Nationwide Children’s Hospital constructed an approximate 724,000 square feet, twelve story replacement hospital on their main campus located in Columbus, Ohio. The new hospital consists of 300 inpatient beds, emergency department, outpatient surgery center, radiology, laboratory services, hematology and oncology clinic, administrative offices, and all the associated support spaces for a fully functional hospital.
Cannon Design (formerly FKP Architects) created a partnership with Andrews Architects for the design and construction administration of the new hospital. Cannon Design served as the Architect of Record and Andrews Architects was the Associate Architect. Andrews Architects assisted with pre-design field verification, design meeting assistance, and construction administration.
During construction, Andrews Architects was on site to attend meetings, conduct site observations, create field reports, review RFI’s and assisted in submittal reviews. Being local, Andrews Architects was able to quickly respond to questions or concerns that arose during design and construction.
As part of the project, Andrews Architects was the lead architect for the design and construction administration for the 10,600 square feet hematology and oncology clinic on the tenth and eleventh floors.
