Located 15 miles southeast of Downtown Columbus, Canal Winchester was selected for The MacIntosh Company’s seventh care community in order to serve the quickly-growing population of the area. Designed specifically to the site’s rural history, the 87,000 square foot facility offers a comfortable and modern aesthetic reflective of the farmhouse community. The 122-bed facility includes 75 skilled nursing beds and 35 assisted living apartments with rehabilitation services provided to residents and short-term visitors.
The owner’s desire to offer a variety of options to residents resulted in multiple dining services, a movie theater, fitness center, salon, library, and cafe. The rehabilitation facility provides multiple spaces for physical and occupational therapy, with extensive equipment and a full staff to enhance the patient experience and offer opportunity for healing.
During design, Andrews Architects focused on providing a resident–centered environment, while creating efficiencies for staff and care. The resulting hospitality-driven community is a diverse environment where residents benefit from an increase in relationships, activity, and engagement.
