St. Leonard is one of the largest senior living communities in the United States, located on 240 acres of countryside in Centerville, Ohio. St. Leonard has been providing senior transitional living for over 25 years with a great reputation and a growing wait list, but faced a changing demand in the marketplace. They needed to increase in-house resident programs, services and amenities and develop both skilled and assisted memory care products. With the help of Andrews Architects, St. Leonard set in motion an expansion program that would add 21 assisted living apartments, 30 skilled nursing memory care beds and 30 assisted memory care beds. The total campus census is now over 700 residents with varying acuity levels.

The new design includes multiple courtyard, ponds, outdoor fountains and waterfalls. This includes a memory care courtyard designed to stimulate the senses and promote healing. Multiple walking paths with varied and distinctive landscaping has been provided to increase socialization and promote wellness activities
The overall campus plan supports the owner’s design objective to eventually replace all of the outdated buildings with new structures that reflect a more residential character and resident-centered design philosophy. The two new buildings provide a new design statement and reflect a renewed energy and spirit.
